Welcome to Boombots. We take our name from the Italian-American slang term for idiot. Some people don’t understand why we’d call ourselves that, but we wear the title like a badge of honor. Because we’re all idiots about the things we love. Family. Community. Pasta. It’s not a weakness. It’s what happens when you care so deeply about something that you’ll throw out every rule, challenge every expectation, and risk looking completely ridiculous just to see what’s possible.

Boombots is the second restaurant from owners Cliff and Cara Blauvelt, the duo behind neighborhood favorite, Odie B’s. This is our fresh take on the neighborhood pasta shop. A spot that welcomes everyone who likes to eat, vibe, and connect over a banging meal.

CLIFF AND CARA BLAUVELT

Cliff and Cara Blauvelt are the husband-and-wife team behind Boombots. After winning hearts (and stomachs) with Odie B’s just next door — and in RiNo — they decided it was time to bring their signature rowdy spirit and community focus to the pasta shop.

Cliff’s been in Denver kitchens for 20+ years, climbing the ranks from Philly joints to executive chef and culinary director at local hotspots. He’s cooked in Aruba, crushed burger battles, and mentored more line cooks than he can count — because what matters to him most is the people behind the food. As a Certified Peer Support Specialist for mental health and substance abuse recovery, two issues that disproportionately impact restaurant workers, Cliff’s on a mission to make kitchens a better place to work.

Cara shares that mission — and brings the operational firepower to match. With 15 years in hospitality and a seat on the EatDenver board, she’s helping lead the charge toward recovery-friendly workplaces and more honest conversations around mental health in the industry. She also knows a thing or two about making a restaurant run smooth as hell.

The pair opened Odie B’s Sunnyside location in 2022. Got married in it a month later. And now? They’re bringing the same chaotic-good to Boombots, where the vibes are as fresh as the pasta, and no one gets left behind.
